The Plague Of Assumptions
I was listening to a renowned speaker lately, and he said exactly what I could consider a Muse.
I had a suggestion from someone to take my 4th online course, since this lockdown started. And I opted in , solely because this one came with a certification.
You could go check it out , it's on digital marketing sponsored by Google.
Back to what I was saying.
During this online course , I stumbled upon an exercise that stated a part of what i am about to share with you today!
And again, all of these information began to connect more deeply with a research I had been doing titled "the characteristics of the average generation Z"
These things contributed immensely and is the inspiration behind this subject
You may or may not have heard or seen anything on this subject before
But I urge you to read this till the end.
So, We live in a day , time and age where information, has become littered every where
You go on the internet now, you'd see tons and tons of information, the good , better and the best.
The world has become a global village of information
Some even come for free!
It didn't use to be like that back in the good old days, where information was privy to a few people
And it's amazingly advantageous that this is happening in our time. While this is true
There is also a gross disadvantage toward the information age (as we know it)
What is that disadvantage?
Let's go back to part of my details on the research.
One of my findings on the character of the GenZs is that they have a short attention span
Really?
Yes they do!
Now , tracking it's relation to the digital marketing course I took;
An important information shared during the course, was a strategy for businesses to make short detailed content for adverts, because users have a short attention span
Fortunately, they explained why;
They said that , Due to the fact that users get tons of information daily ,the value for information has decreased tremendously.
This is amazing , but I believe you are not surprised
You see , This phenomenon Is called "the theory of scarcity and abundance"
The theory states that everytime there is scarcity of a thing, it's value increases
And when a commodity or information is in abundance its value tends to decrease.
The "decrease in value" and "increase in value" in this context is more of a psychological perception than from a monetary perspective
This is called a "theory" because it doesn't apply to everyone and everything , so it's not be stated as law just yet.
Now I'd need To connect to what the speaker I had listened to explained about this subject
He explained that people in this time and age no longer seek knowledge and understanding but always expect Knowledge to flow toward thier direction
That's why most don't read books or articles anymore
With this plague comes a high degree of assumption.
so many assume they know, because they've probably seen a measure of that information somewhere.
Many are indifferent about what they don't know, because they don't know
The index of assumptions in the world is increasing exponentially and when that happens it also means that there is a corresponding exponential increase in ignorance.
Why was this posted?
Because, much more than the pandemic or plague in the physical culture scape, there is another plague of assumption and ignorance growing deep into the minds of the masses.
It's been said that 20% of people on Earth are responsible and are driver of the economy And wellbeing of the remaining 80%, due to their education , access to privy knowledge and a few other factors that contribute to these.
I predict that if there isn't any palpable way of recalibrating the index of assumptions, there would be an increase of the 80% masses, reaching 90% by 2030.
When that happens ...
We would find out that power is then in the hands of the minority
Because knowledge is power, especially applied one.
And Unfortunately, from history , whenever power wielded by a few people, it often leads to wars, crises, corruption and gross manipulation
However The good part is that something can be done about this plague.
Remember the theory of scarcity and abundance is only a "theory"
That means it doesn't apply to everyone including you (if/when you choose to)
My solution for you every individual is that
We Begin to become thorough in your pursuit for exact knowledge, discarding assumptions and upholding the value of knowledge consciously.
I believe that When this happens on a global scale, it would lead to the advancement of the human collosus (Earth and the human species)
