THE MAJOR THING I LEARNT TODAY – THE STATUS QUO VERSUS THINKING BIG!
So today! I decided to check out a video I saw on YouTube by Venture Capitalist and Speaker ‘Vusi Thembekayo’, the title of his speech was “the small business lie”. You could go up to check it up yourself on YouTube as I would advise you do.
I personally took this topic as ‘very important’ information that we, in third world Africa must hear, listen! And understand.
He basically spoke on the need for us think globally, while building our businesses and organizations. This is true! Because we have somehow being indoctrinated on the being small and building our businesses and organisations for the local community.
Meanwhile the Americans have so developed their themselves with a mindset , that whatever it is they build will serve the global community for a prolonged period of time (if not forever).
We have organisations like Google, virgin, Facebook, apple and a lot of other businesses
If we are to Exponentially INCREASE our continental GDP and development, we would have to subscribe to this idea!
However ‘the major thing I learnt today’ from that speech is that there are two ways to do build THESE;
The first is to build our businesses and organisations on the basis of philosophies, that is; ideas that transcend time, culture and the people, ideas so strong that would make a huge impact on the world
The second that we should have and also reward a culture of delayed gratification, the holy art of perseverance; staying long enough till the vision is well accomplished.
I think these two virtues would contribute to this!
Let’s broaden the horizon of our minds! And build business for the global community!
WHAT DID YOU LEARN TODAY?
LARRY ALIVE!
